Tricolore, 2018
Azzerare il tricolore è come insinuare il dubbio nelle cose più ovvie e scontate, disorientare cromaticamente e simbolicamente un’istituzione, un concetto ormai assodato, incontrovertibile. Avviare un’operazione mnemonica e ricominciare ad osservare un’immagine sempre saputa ma mai vista attentamente. Il bianco e nero vuole essere un depistaggio semantico, ponendo in questione la scala dei grigi che nelle diverse gradazioni alludono al tricolore italiano, ma che potrebbe essere anche quello francese o del Belgio o di chissà quale altra nazione. C’è bisogno di un atto di fede nel riconoscere i colori nei grigi, c’è bisogno di una partecipazione attiva in chi guarda.

Removing the tricolor is like insinuating doubt into the most obvious and obvious things, chromatically and symbolically disorienting an institution, a now well-established, incontrovertible concept. Start a mnemonic operation and start observing an image you always knew but never saw carefully. The black and white aims to be a semantic misdirection, calling into question the gray scale which in its different shades alludes to the Italian tricolour, but which could also be that of France or Belgium or who knows what other nation. There is a need for an act of faith in recognizing the colors in the greys, there is a need for active participation in the viewer.
